Best Pizza | Our Story

A Century Old Oven. Honoring the Generations Before.

Frank Pinello opened Best Pizza on Havemeyer Street in 2010 with a clear mission: bring back the great neighborhood slice joint. Nothing has changed.
The Oven

The Oven

Best Pizza started in a former Williamsburg bakery built around a century-old wood-burning oven. It was already there when Frank opened the doors in 2010—and it's been at the center of the shop ever since. Every pie is stretched by hand, topped to order, and fired in the same oven that helped define Best Pizza from day one.

Frank Pinello grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, learning to cook in his Sicilian grandmother's basement kitchen. Those early lessons eventually took him to the Culinary Institute of America, then into professional kitchens including Roberta's in Bushwick. In 2010, he brought it all back to Brooklyn and opened Best Pizza in Williamsburg—a neighborhood slice shop shaped by his Sicilian roots, culinary training, and the New York pizzerias he grew up with.

Beyond Williamsburg

The Pizza Show took Frank far beyond the neighborhood. As host of the VICE series, he traveled the world exploring pizza through the people, places, and traditions behind it. Along the way, Best Pizza's distinctly Brooklyn approach traveled with him, leading to projects in Qatar, Hong Kong, Kuwait, London, Toronto, Miami, and Los Angeles. But through it all, Havemeyer Street has remained home base.

How It's Made

How It's Made

Dough stretched by hand. Sauce applied to order. Wood-fired, every time. No shortcuts.
Still a Slice Shop

Still a Slice Shop

Walk in, order at the counter, eat on the sidewalk. That's always been the point.
